| The British National Health Service
We hear a lot these days about the National Health Service in Britain, about it's inadequacies, it's waste of resources, the cleanliness of it's hospitals, the performance of it's staff and of course the sheer cost of it. It is not our place to comment on the current state of the National Health Service but we would like to point out that, since the initial onset of Zoe's illness we have received nothing but the best of treatment. From the first visit to our GP who recognised that there was a problem, from the doctor's and nurses waiting for us at Warrington General hospital, the doctor's and nurses at Alder Hey and the Walton Centre in Fazackerly the NHS staff who have dealt with us have been professional, caring and understanding beyond the call of duty to the point where a consultant neurologist gave us her home phone number in case we were worried about anything. Zoë has even had a consultation with one of the world's leading professors on the subject of MGA. Zoë has had X-rays, MRI scans, biopsies, EMG tests and any number of other tests, these have been undertaken whenever necessary and without delay. Due to Zoe's phobia about needles and treatment in general the NHS staff at Alder Hey all liased to carry out a variety of tests while Zoë was anaesthetised to have some teeth out, this saved Zoë from having to go through more procedures later. We and Zoë would just like to say Thank you ! |
